Shipwreck Coast Osteopathy

About Us

Shipwreck Coast Osteopathy was established 2008, to provide Osteopathic treatment to Southwest Victoria.

Regarding Lee,

Our primary practitioner, Lee Nicholson has been practicing Osteopathy since 2002, having graduated from RMIT university.

Lee has been fortunate to work in several locations throughout Australia - Bendigo, Batemans Bay and Warrnambool.

Earlier in his career, Lee also enjoyed four years practicing in Singapore.

Lee has a keen interest in treating sports injuries, back pain, headaches and will utilise a variety of musculoskeletal techniques. These might include massage, stretching, manipulation, articulation and take-home exercises or postural advice appropriate to your concerns.

and, indroducing Locky,

Shipwreck Coast Osteopathy is happy to announce that Locky Moir joined us in January 2022.

Locky spent some time with us in late 2021 while a 5th year Osteopathic student - some clients will already be familiar with his good work!

Locky also studied at RMIT University, and treats in a very similar manner to Lee.

Locky enjoys applying manual therapy as well as exercise prescription, and has an extensive background in personal training.

Please show Locky your support, and do consider making a booking with him today!

Osteopathy

Osteopathy is a form of “hands on” manual medicine that has been practiced in Australia for over 110 years (since 1909!)

Osteopathy is a holistic, complementary and alternative system of health care, that may be applied as treatment for relief of a specific problem, or may be practiced as preventative health care.

What to know about Osteopathic treatment, before you attend...

If you have any queries regarding our clinic, or the suitability of Osteopathy for the treatment or management of your condition, please contact us at your convenience...

Do you have HiCaps/Healthpoint to claim Private Health Insurance claims?

Yes, we have a Healthpoint terminal that is capable of processing your Health Fund co-payment (if your "extras" includes Osteopathic treatment)

Please bring your Private Health Insurance card to process a claim on the day, otherwise you can claim manually with a receipt.

Can I seek treatment under Medicare?

In consultation with your GP, you may be eligible for the Medicare Enhanced Primary Care program.

Your GP may approve up to 5 consultations per calendar year for Osteopathic treatment, for management of a chronic (>6 week) term.

  • From July 2023 clients will be required to pay the concession consultation fee in-full, and will receive a medicare rebate paid to their account within two business days. (2023 rebate = $58, making the cost of a consultation $17 "out of pocket")
Do I have to remove any clothing?

Many Osteopathic techniques can be completed with the client fully clothed.

However we do use massage, stretching and articulation as primary forms of musclo-skeletal treatment. Some of these techniques are best performed after the removal of some clothing.

This can always be discussed with your practitioner on a case by case basis, and treatment modified to suit your preferences.

What forms of technique might you use?

Stretching, massage, joint articulation and manipulation are all forms of treatment that may be applied during treatment.

Clients may be instructed in postural advice, stretching routines and other management strategies.

Do you have a concession/student price?

A $10 discount is available for Health Care Card holders and students.  Please inform your practitioner.

Do I need a referral to see an Osteopath?

No, in Australia you do not need a referral from a GP to attend for an Osteopathic consultation.
